- Open the reading material to the page you want to read
- Place the open book / mag into the FLIP assistive device
- Set the guides for the size and thickness of the reading material
Optionally, depending on the motor ability of the reader,
they may also - Make sure the switch is plugged in (if the reader can press a button switch,) OR
- Insert the mouthstick in the mouthstick control (if the reader uses a mouthstick) OR
- Set the device for fully automatic page turning by choosing the number of seconds before turning.
Then.... the person reading get comfy and reads away independently while the assistant can leave in confidence... When the reader is ready to move on to the next page they can either - push a button on the console OR
- press a big button switch
- use a mouthstick to press a control
